If you do a production run you can count on me likely buying at least 5, maybe 10.

I will stick them on every reader in my workplace, even the ones I don’t use!

1mm is very impressive. Well done.

I think I’m going to do two different runs. Once just for DT and then my normal stock run. I usually do these in batches of 1000. The DT run will probably be about 500. The only difference will be the silk-screening.

If anyone wants to design the silk-screening for the DT run I’ll be open to your artwork.

I’m throwing this one out to @enginerd specifically, but everybody feel free to chime in.

The question came to me today, Given your well documented desire to leave your meat envelope behind and become Mecha-Enginerd, what form do you envision that taking?

20 story tall Jaeger like in Pacific Rim
Standard humanoid +2.0 (8ft tall and hung) (but not flesh appearing)
Animalistic robot. Mecha wolf, Mecha spider, etc.
Some kind of Mr Potatoe head design that can be reconfigured like legos.
Something wheeled / tracked? Flying?

BiPedal seems good for living on planet with gravity. If you don’t have flesh, then space is open to you. Crab or Spider forms might have appeal there. Then again, who doesn’t want to freaking FLY!

So choose your form. What’s it gonna be?

Synth is something I’d choose. Yeah, it’s a furry species, but they’re fully synthetic and very customizable.

I don’t want my version to influence what other people might come up with on their own so…

Think it through on your own, then.

I’d totally rip off the Andromeda Ascendent’s design. Even if the tech is unavailable, like FTL and Sciency weaponry. So, massive mobile ship with capabilities, and a humanoid avatar.

I feel like I’d still go bipedal,

ā€œStuffā€ is generally designed for the human form
Guns, bags, equipment, tools, vehicles, doors, etc

So if your going to live in a meat bag society it would be beneficial to have a meat bag similar shape… there’s also half the fun of sharing the form of meat bags and having significantly better performance

If we are talking about a completely independent and devoid of meat bag existence that’s a bit more dependent on the situation

That being said, there’s no reason that a bipedal design needs to have the same limitations have on their form, 360 joint rotation, expandable limb situations like grevious or GITS androids typing on computers,

And ofc there can be a modular aspect if your feeling the need have a Johnny 5 tread day

In that order specifically :joy::us::us::us:

Nobody has mentioned wheels so far, which are by far the most energy efficient. I would include those in my design.

Also I saw some DT themed Halloween decorations while in Dallas

What colour is your potatoe then, eh @Pilgrimsmaster ?

Basically, I tend to use a lot of weird spellings because I used to read alot of Napoleonic era sailing fiction. It just kinda sunk in, like a written accent if you will.

And as important as being correct can be to me, just this once the almighty imperial universe can do it my way.

Well, this is the most obvious solution as almost everything in the world is designed for humans:

However, see that as a suggestion and I’d love to experiment with different forms. Wheels and tracks would be nice to try, however stairs would be a problem. And also fitting in cars or driving…

Get out of my head! I’ve thought about this extensively and would totally do this if planning to stay the entire day at my lab building or testing stuff…

I’m going with mecanum wheels, those are awesome and extremely versatile.

Also, am I the only one who would like to try different manipulators? Still, having a set of human like hands is useful in this world.

I’d get some of that stuff built in… Still, being able to interact with the world is an important design consideration for the time being. Although who knows if others decide to choose the same mechanical path, there might be some things specifically made for robots.

Of course. But I’m also willing to take some limitations when it comes to certain things in order to gain advantages in others. I want the best solution for me, not the ideal meatbag body. I’m of with being a little stiff here and there, and with some gimbal limitations as long as these things don’t get in my way.

No thanks on the animal side of things. And I don’t fully understand the Mr Potatoe concept, but I think that it would be way to hard to implement.

Yes please! But that’s rather impractical… Still, something more reasonable like an 8’ tall and bulky body would be fun to have… Even if just for the weekends.

Flying would be nice but being strictly an aircraft would be impractical. Just don’t call me ā€œStarscreamā€ā€¦

Get out of my head once again!

I didn’t care so much for the body. Just load me up into the Internet and let me be.

Not sure I want to have that on a direct feed into my consciousness lol
