Is the one time code an alternative to the password or a 2fa in addition to the password. If it’s the latter then change your password m

Neither. When a password recovery request happens, it sends a one time use 6 digit number to my other account to verify I sent the request. Which I did not.

So, somebody has my spam email account address, and keeps trying to get in? I get alot of spam crap in that account. Big dick pills, to my exciting financial opportunities. Microsoft is very lax about allowing that shit through, unless you explicitly block it. Which is weird to me, cause you’d think it’d be to their benefit to pre nuke as much as possible.

In theory, if they can guess the 6 digit random number, they can change the password, take control of the account, and send spam from it until microsoft shuts it down. This is my current best guess as to what’s being attempted???

That password is unique to that email account, and is a random string, so I doubt anybody’s cracked that.

Last night I was watching a clip from Elysium where Matt Damon rips the head off an attack bot and the body flops to the ground after

Obviously there is no reason to put sensitive control processors etc. into the actual head, which is just itself a sensor platform. The argument for making anthropomorphic bots with human bodies makes sense to me - build the world for humans, build bots able to operate within that world
but putting the control processes into the head
 no.

This got me thinking about something else - a universally recognized kill switch that humans can actuate against a bot that will shut it down
without needing to communicate it to someone who’s never seen a human like bot before
then I thought how funny it would be if special sensors were built into the neck so if someone strangled it, it would slowly power down and then shut down

its one of the things that piss me off on a lot of sci-fi
if we have all this technology, why make things soi fragile and so “current looking”?

It shows such a lack of undersetting and technology and science
and a lack of imagination and creativity

(dont get me started about the “pew-pew” in space
)

Need a down and dirty kind of solution.

I have an amazon chinesium endoscope camera with micro USB. The phone I used to use it with is dead dead dead. My current phone is USB c.

I tried getting an adapter at walmart, but it turns out to be power only.

Not sure If I can cut the end off of a USB c cord and solder it onto the existing endoscope camera cord.

Something hack and janky is perfectly acceptable. I’m gonna order a new camera with USB c, so if I sacrifice the existing one, that’s o.k.

Thoughts?

It might work if you use a USB C to A cable that’s USB 2.0 only. I don’t know enough about USB otg to be sure but I assume since the camera has a micro USB plug it handles it

Yeah I’d cut a USB c cable as a hack.

Tried it. No joy.
Gonna have a new one on Wednesday, not a huge loss.

This!

Can I opt out of this in the future?

You need a Micro USB to USB-C adapter that supports OTG. Otherwise, the phone will not output power or behave as a host. Those adapters are more difficult to find than I’d like but they do exist.

The one I got was from a 3 or 4 connection universal charger. Pretty sure it’s only wired for power, no data. Seems obvious in hindsight.

At this point, not worth further effort, especially as I’ve already cut the wiring up.

Many support data but only in one “direction” so to speak. It needs to support OTG or it will only work for charging or connecting your phone to a computer.

Oh well, too late

Looks like somebody on GovDeals know how to speak to me.

Based on the vote counts, extrapolated over the mean, we’re doomed.

@amal did some custom wiring in his poweredge to power a 3060

I don’t have too much experience, I’ve setup one or two. My 2 cents would be make sure they’re not too old, I’d pass on any using ddr3 at this point. Too power hungry
