It’s worth replacing the batteries in all the smoke detectors as soon as one starts to fail, and the same goes for alarm sensors and such…

Also, anyone who pranks someone like that at night should have absolutely no rights…

And my day has gotten worse. I don’t know if anyone knows Australia’s former prime minister from a few years back. His name is John Howard. Love him or hate him, he was known for bushy eyebrows…. Anyway my kids brought me a trimmer thing for ears and eyebrows (yes this happens when you hit 40 and hair starts growing in wrong places). Anyway I put it on backwards after a few drinks and have now shaved off half my eyebrow. FML. Nothing every happens in anything but 3s.

both kids basically vomited all night for one night each a different night. No idea why, only lasted one night though.

Today, i have felt nausious all day. Not wanting to vomit but i can feel that my body wants me to.

hopefully this only lasts a day, its very unpleasant.

Jammy’s patented vomiting tip:
chug a whole glass of water right before you want to throw up

  • pretty much immediately causes vomiting if you’re feeling nauseous
  • dilutes whatever is in your stomach,
    • significantly reduces the bad taste
    • makes the vomit more liquidy (more pleasant to vomit liquid than chunks)
  • if you’re sick enough that you’re dry heaving, it gives you something to push up
  • saves you from jamming your fingers down your throat

I recommend being in front of the toilet when doing this

Vomiting totally sucks but this makes it slightly more tolerable and gets it over with.
Up to you to decide if you’re sick enough to need it. Just a trick for your trickbox

I was 38 when I first noticed signs of my eyesight going.
I’ve now reached the stage where it’s normal to have 3 bottles of pills that I take one each day.

60 ain’t gonna be fun.
I’m hoping for cute nurses somewhere around 75, though.

Anyone have any experience with electro chromatic window film or pdlc film I think,

Creature of the night, my bedroom window lets in an insane amount of light even when covered etc since it faces right into the sun

Partner wants light when she’s waking up, I want it gone when I’m going to sleep

I’ve found a couple window blackout frame kits, but wanting the ability to schedule it with home automation… only found 1 that’s capable of that and it’s very spendy looking at 800ish

Had the thought of maybe using electrochromic film tint,
Might be cheaper since no moving parts and not needing to fit wall precisely, only window itself

But I’m not sure if the black versions are 100% opaque or just mostly opaque

Figuring out how to keep power supplied and be able to open window might be tricky but could be still cheaper maybe

my partner is the same way. Needs total darkness, but I need light to wake up. My compromise was blackout curtains and then placing an rgbw led strip above the window. Home assistant controls the light to start gradually increasing in brightness 30 minutes before I wake up to mimic the sunrise

Well that was the plan at least. Still haven’t installed the led strip

I stayed in a Hotel in Singapore once, where the room was a rectangle, with the bathroom at the end, seperated by a glass partition, which had this stuff on it. Flick the switch and it goes opaque.

You could still see through it if someone was within about 30cm from it, but otherwise it was very good privacy.

It still allowed light through though, and the remainder of the room (which had no windows and relied on the window in the bathroom for natural lighting) was still reasonably bright.

I dont think it would black out for sleep purposes though. I agree it is very pricey too.

By that I mean you could see an outline of a person. You could not see any detail or anything. Also the person being ā€œviewedā€ was the one who had to be within 30 cm of it; not the ā€œviewerā€/voyuer.

You can buy it on Amazon

NGL, That’s exactly why I love Amazon and miss it now that I live in the southern hemisphere.

Yea but 99% of those are just ā€œsampleā€ kits which are too small for actual application

Think I’d need 2x 3x3’ pieces

Also the ability to cut and trim them seems to be back and forth

I’m sure you could source it elsewhere in qty but yeah the fact it’s available on Amazon speaks to how accessible it actually is… it’s just not for millionaires

Provided, I’d rather be a robot so yes, I’d totally wear something like that every day if it was comfortable enough and I could…

I know that this is derailing the conversation a bit, but I’m trying to distract myself with memes. I need a hug.

At least I have everything ready to torture the power supply on a personal project. And I benchmarked my laptop and my tablet… Somehow, the 28W CPU on my tablet is faster than the 65W chip of my laptop. 3 years make a huge difference. :emoji_mindblown:
