I have a problem

  • It’s coming into Winter at home

17465816305014759652800332667737

  • But I’m currently in tropical Bali

Thats not the problem

  • It’s now about 31⁰C with 90% humidity (for the Americans amonsgt you, it’s Hot and sticky like Florida)

  • But I step out of my door and into a swimming pool

Thats not the problem

Thats not the problem

  • Traffic is madness, cars and mopeds everywhere following a very loose set of road ā€œrulesā€

  • This is not my first rodeo, I have been to Southeast Asia A LOT, its managed chaos AND they also drive on the left like I’m used to.

Thats not the problem

  • I have keys for my room and moped

How the fuck do I read and write them to an implant?

I’m moving locations in a couple of days, so hopefully I get an RFID lock at the next accommodation.

I see no problems and only pleasant conveniences

Clearly, he is bummed out by the prospect of missing out on all the lovely snow

Sir, your words offend me
A key is NOT a convenience…
You clearly dont understand, I HAVE TO CARRY A KEY…Like a Neanderthal !!!

Hahahahahahaha…

Nope, Its very temperate and it has never snowed where I live.

Its actualy still around 18⁰C (around the lowest of an AC in your car) cool but not uncomfortable…

Currently here if anybody was wondering

And on that note, its time to feed the Neanderthal :poultry_leg:

How do you find Bali?

I have never been. All I hear is stories about drunken fuckwit Australians and don’t want to associate with them, especially given m strong accent.

Also I hate the heat…

But that all looks pretty good and obviously it would be much cooler in Winter.

it was easy, It was right infront of me when I hopped off a plane.
:dad_joke:

It really depends in what you want from a holiday.
It caters to most things and most budgets.
You can go the adventure route, or the relaxing route or anything in between.

Equally NZ, UK and others.

They are generally in predictable areas and are all easy enough to avoid

Not really.

Its so close to the equator, the temperature doesnt vary too much.
What does change is the humidity and rainfall.

In theory Bali should be at the end of the rainy season about now.

I happen to hate Colombians, hate their culture, and don’t want to associate with them… Now guess where my mother went into labor. :flushed:

Now that I left that country, I wish that I could change my accent. Provided, I still don’t know if I want to stay where I currently am. I’d like to have more distance from my family and an individualistic culture. And maybe a place that doesn’t speak spanish for a change.

Hopefully, I’m not the only one who hates the place and culture where they’re from.

Throughout my childhood, the more I learned about the US the more I thought this country was filled with egotistical, ethnocentric nationalists.
The more I learn about other places, I see that every place has their flaws, but I am probably not alone in saying that right now it feels pretty embarrassing to be ā€œan Americanā€.

You’re right about ā€œindividualistic cultureā€. I have always longed for a place where we can see and act globally. The Borg look more and more appealing.

I think that I wasn’t clear about individualism. Latin America is as collectivist as it gets… And it’s annoying.

So everyone in your friend group got a Blink 182 tattoo? You’re going to get pressured into getting one even if you don’t want it or you get ostracized. Your friends like dressing formally? Don’t you dare wear a t shirt. Your friends like t shirts? Don’t you dare wear a suit. Everyone is saying homophobic nonsense? You better do the same, regardless of what you think… In-group vs out-group dynamics suck…

That’s Colombia… And to a slightly lesser extent, that’s Latin America…

Ironically, there’s still a weird petty competitiveness in these cultures. So you’re expected to conform to a lot of rules that serve no purpose other than to signal a willingness to conform, and then you’re expected to use the little freedom that you have left to one-up everyone else, but not too much as it makes others uncomfortable.

I’d rather be an individual, and be surrounded by people who are also individuals, but have a willingness to cooperate while respecting individual differences. But I don’t know if such a place exists.

Same goes for being ā€œa Colombianā€ TBH…

Ever read the Troy Rising series?
That’s basically one of the major plot lines of book three.
Also A damn good read.

I fear such places are shrinking as the masses sit in front of recommend feeds all day and get sorted into clusters.

So I’m eating candy that my kids received on Easter that my wife rejected because it has dyes in it. And I’m wondering.

Those of you that don’t use freedom units.

What the hell are these called in your country.

Or do you just not have them because you’re not far gluttonous turds like us?
