For me, VRcover straps are a must. You donāt know you need them until you have them. They come in really handy when playing games like Pavlov. Facial interface is another big one like you mentioned.
I semi found out the issue, but Iām not sure Iām smart enough to formulate a fix
When using wifi direct, windows hotspot feature seems to self limit to only a 20 Channel width which drops it to 280ish mbpsā¦
Thatās the issue, now how we force windows to not be a dickbag⦠not sure where to start
Good luck! I been trying since 2007 when XP died.
Additional,
Supposedly if you create the windows 10 hotspot, and then connect a phone to it, it disables the limit as long as that hotspot exist
So you can start hotspot, connnect phone, disconnect phone, and connect quest 2 to achieve far better wifi direct speeds
I will test when I get home in 8-9 hours
Confirmed, that tricked worked
I was able to get a direct wifi connection at 1200mbps
Only issue remains is a repeating occasional noticeable lag, that from reading Iām 99% sure is windows doing a clockwork scan for new or better networks
There is supposedly a way to Disable networking scanning that should fix that
My right controller which I may have mentioned before was spiked in a vigorous game of beat saber has officially croaked, tried to find a new one on ebay for cheaper but for some reason theyāre cheaper brand new on the oculus store than used on ebay?!? Either way rip my $75 dollars
If itās a quest 1 call them up, itās a known defect and they cover it
quest 2
Physically broken Or bricked?
Physically broken, the spike cracked it and then playing today mustāve jostled something loose so it randomly shoots off screen
Surprised you managed to crack one, the quest 2 controllers are absurdly strong. Sucks that it youāre gonna have to pay $75 to get a new one.
You could always try and repair it, if youāre replacing it anyways (no risk haha). Iāve had the āshooting off screenā issue before due to issues with the battery connection. Maybe make sure the battery is making good contact? Itās possible that it might have knocked one of the contacts around just enough to make a shitty connection.
Does it happen when you fling your hand, or seemingly randomly?
Regarding the physical crack, I know a lot of people have had good success with super glue/cyanoacrylate.
Completely randomly, itās actually been happening the past while ever since the crack but has just now gotten to the point where itās unusable
Iāve had it glued for awhile but it came off today and after reglueing the problem persisted
will probably attempt although it seems one of the ribbon cables has broke from my inspection so I think it may be done for without some replacement parts
Thought I would share, since thereās been a bit of an overlap in Quest 2 owners and 3D printer owners
I printed some knuckles-style straps (similar to the Valve index) for my Quest 2 controllers, using blue Overture TPU.
Hereās the thingiverse link.
The print was very easy, and it fit on the controllers well. It did take a lot of adjustment to get the fit just right for me, and I had to relearn how to hold the controller a bit, but Iām pretty happy with it now. My tip is to try and cup the controller a bit with the knife-edge of your hands, it gets into a position that feelsā¦
Now the controller feels super tight to my hand in a good way, and I can even release my hand completely and the controller stays attached.
I actually just did that and have no regrets in doing so. The Q2 has been a much better and more convenient experience for me thus for.
That being said, Iām 100% open to anyone that might want to play some games together! DM me to add as friend!
Itās planned to be re released in a month with twice the base storage (128g) for the same price
Iām genuinely unconcerned about this
Foam interface is dumb anyways, should have been built in silicone
Nowā¦
Facebookās āwe want to build a vr metaverse⦠but we donāt want to own it⦠is sus
I had a Vive when they first came out. The Aperture science demo completely blew me away.
I played the demo games, they were fun for a bit. The couple games I bought, one I got stuck, and the other i could only play for like 15 minutes before feeling sick. Then it sat for over year and I didnāt use it at all and I ended up selling it.
Honestly the only thing Iād buy it again for is when AR is ready for productivity type stuff. I yearn for the day that I can sit down in the middle of an empty room with a small desk, a mouse and a keyboard, put my AR headset on and have unlimited virtual desktops, white boards and virtual windows with scenery of my choice that I can look out of.
Iām totally wanting AR as well
Theyāve been playing around with VR workspaces in Linux for a while. there are a couple of projects. Look up SimulaVR and Xrdesktop
