What are you making ⚒️ / 3D printing 🖨

I’ve seen the ultimate stetho holster but not the TQ one. I might remix the shears one for my trail bag!
Thank you for the info and advice! I appreciate it! I haven’t seen the SAM gizmo yet, I’ll check that out! I haven’t messed with TQs too much, but have a CAT. Everything I’ve heard has been “Stay away from non TCCC stuff.”

I agree with that sentiment… BUT TCCC now approves like 5 or 6 different TQ’s not just CAT and SOF
when I took my tier 2 trauma class this had just happened, so the instructor happened to have one of each on hand to let us get a feel for… 2 of them used the rollerblade ratchet system… you could get the torque but it was kinda slow… the SAM was the only one that seemed comparable

pro advice, just incase you haven’t gotten it yet… but its worth repeating just in case…
always make sure to TIGHTEN THE SHIT out of the tourniquet prior to using the windlass… most failures observed and personally in force on force role play were from this…
but seriously… act like there isn’t a windlass at first lol

in a simulation, I whispered to a friend a mine who was playing the role of a victim, and I whispered to him “say when motherfucker” as a courtesy to not cause… excessive… pain in placing a tourniquet on him… because the instructor had been specific that he wanted to see legitimately plausible pressure not just “going thru the motions”
playing unconscious with his eyes closed… he thought my initial “cinch” was me tightening it, and let his guard down… I got about 3 quick and HEFTY turns before he broke character

this is also when I became 100% sure knock off TQs are unacceptable and not “probably fine”, unless you are literally training with them for roleplay and want failures…

the 3 quick turns guy above… I was given one of the chinesium knock offs that has the aluminum windlass… I honestly figured the windlass wouldn’t be the weak point and it would be “fine”
…on turn 3 of what a victim should have gotten 4-5, I bent that fucker like it was made out of tin… which honestly is a very real possibility… I doubt I could have gotten life or death torque before the windlass would have been unusable

I blew the stitching out of another one

real TQ and real TQ only

Idk if I would recommend the printed one for duty or not… but its a nice to have… I keep a spare in one incase anyone going to the range with me wants to also wear one… but I wear mine in one of these high viz orange
Amazon.com definitely duty grade

That’s awesome

Definitely! No cheapo Amazon lookalike!
I watched Prep Medic’s TQ reviews and test video, and Skinny Medic’s video, and I think one other.

rn sending it to the printer. one at 99% scale one at 100% scale and one at 101% scale

Thanks @Eriequiet !!

I’ll update the design later tonight, basically 5-6 of each hole clearance, and 5-6 of each hex clearance

All labeled in the part itself for easy fine tuning

Cool!

Is it possible to make the hole deeper so there is Mord contact surface between the glass and the Print?

I think that will reduce wiggeling of the glass and secure it more firmly

That’s easy … I kept it short because I was trying to keep some distance from the focal point, bla bla thermal insulation bla bla

How much deeper you want it?

I’d say 6mm depth should be ok

7.5 hours into a 9 hour print and it failed :frowning:

I did learn some more tools in OnShape during those 7.5 hours of wasted time though! I saw an Etsy listing for a futuristic looking half mask that was supposed to protect your face mask during the beginning of the pandemic but haven’t been able to find it since the middle of the pandemic. So I started working on my own version lol

Going to be part of my Halloween costume this year lol

funny that’s exactly what I originally set… great minds :sunglasses:

ok @mrln I created a full tolerance matrix in tinkercad, so once you figure out what 2 sizes you want, its already generated, because scaling will mess with both at the same time

but I’ll load 2 files
1 - so you can print the full test width
2 - same thing but with 9mm instead of 6mm deep holes so you can compare to see if there’s a difference for your use

bonus… since its resin 14 parts print in the same time as 1

double tolerance range 6mm deep.stl (1.1 MB)
double tolerance range 9mm deep.stl (1.1 MB)

@amal, are you in a rush for these?
I figure what I can do is print the same 7 pieces that spans the range, and send you that… you tell me what size you like and Ill make and send you some of that in petg

could be worse… I had a failure at day 6.5 of a 7 day print…
and I used as much filament as 2 cans of coke, 3\4 of a spool

what’s funny and dumb is I kept that print for the longest time, because even as a failure it was my cleanest print I had ever made…

FULL ender 3 length width and height, speed 30 , 0.04 layer height

I learned the benefit of cable chains that day

Oh wow, that would suck!
Lol gotta look on the bright side!

Anything but metric

my current 3d print will weigh 42 balloons

Who needs metric when we got cans of coke?

Ps: do not confuse the can of coke with the can mt dew, those clearly have different purposes…

Thanks!!

Im printing both depths but only going up to .26 tolerance to save some resin (my resin stock is low so i need to save every bit i can until the new is delivered)

No rush… that look awesome!

Yes, but are they latex or mylar balloons?
