What are you making ⚒️ / 3D printing 🖨

To anyone who is advanced in 3D design and 3D printing:

Would you be interested in helping me with a small (?) project?

I have a design, it’s really messy because I made it (and) in TinkerCad. It works, but needs improvement. I don’t know how long it would take to polish it up?:gun:

I would like to improve the design with two moving parts. I was wondering to ask help IRL instead of trying to explain myself to AI.

In return I can offer an injectable XG3 v2, never used, and I’d be happy to send it to @Amal to :face_with_monocle::mag_right: and :soap::sweat_drops:. I covere the post and inspection, but can’t offer cash.

To avoid further embarrassing myself with my krappy 3D skills I would rather only share further details in PM.

SO…
Are you interested in getting an XG3 v2? Can you help me with 3D design? If so, please DM me and I give more information.

I’d rather carry on with this in private, hence I didn’t start a topic for this.
Thanks in advance :hugs::hugs:

This is a great idea but I can’t find the STL anywhere. I’d love to modify it for my nothing phone 2 with case on

Been piddling around with the trainer build. Was kind of sweating how to build a box to mount a bunch of switches and LEDs to. And then I turned around and realized I have a 3d printer. D’oh!

Anywho, I’ve had all the stuff to put together a CAD workstation so that I could finally design my own stuff. Just never did it. Just put in the time figuring it out, and I’m kinda pumped up for it now.

Also, my switch / enclosure is printing now.

Be sure to post a pic please. I am about to put together a board for the canopy on a 4x4 and would love to see your idea.

I think you’ll be sorely disapointed. It’s a flat top, angled 10 degrees, with 8 holes for switches, and 6 for LED indicators. Walls are .200 thick, and I put a slot in the back to run wires through. I labeled each input / output.

Basically just a plastic box. But it’s really friggin awesome to print exactly the thing I want to.

Too bad printing takes so long.

You could speed up a print like that a bit, or at least minimize supports , but making the top face seperate and attaching vis screws maybe

I really need to improve the design aspect of my 3D printing. Moving parts and such, On the bright side, I did print that upside down for minimal supports, but I’m sure there’s a better way. I just need to get used to doing things that way.

Additional, having hard time in my head converting
But in general try to keep your walls evenly divisible by your nozzle… I’ve had a few prints where due to line size stuff the print head basically vibrates back and forth to fill a slightly larger then nozzle width line. And it adds a lot of time due to wasted movement and acceleration stuffs

Hmmm, where can I get nozzles based on 1/12’s of an inch? Everything I’ve got is metrickery.

Seriously, good tip.
Need to make up a list of multiples and memorize it or hang it up next to pc.

I’m pretty sure I’ve NEVER seen nozzles listed in standard…, it’s one of the reasons I went kicking and screaming into metric… but literally only for 3d printing and cad for 3D printing

They are imaginary numbers to me in real like lol

I think I did rough math and it looks like your walls are 5mm thick

You might be loosing some time with printing infil on the walls,

If you know you want your walls to be say… 4 lines thick,

.4mm nozzle x4 walls 1.6mm and then double it for 4 lines in the other side… so make your wall 3.2mm thick and it will be solid and skip the infil

I just watched this video, and it really looks like it will tickle the fancy of many people here (he also provides the files for free so you can make your own)

I actually didn’t think of putting LEDs in. I am so doing that!

However you are right in that it is not really what I was looking for! Thanks though. It looks good.

Made some teaching aid for a calculus teacher for their lecture on volume by revolution.
Printing another set with a different function. Should be a good way for the students (high school) to visualize what they are doing.
