Sweeeeet setup!

It’s been a while since I made an ambilight setup. Got any hardware/software recommendations @Eriequiet?

I have a Chakram Core and it’s a great mouse! Sadly, I got it for free and never got around to order the full Chakram.

I personally love ROG peripherals and laptops. Asus makes great stuff!

Recently, I ventured out to the Razer side of things because of their multi-device dongles as I wanted to save a USB port and I regretted it. The snake company makes lackluster firmware and mediocre software. And that’s on top of the fact that most of the green products tend to be boring and somewhat soulless.

In any case, I’m wondering if I should keep the razer keyboard switches (not the rest of the keyboard, of course). And I’m thinking about asking around to see if there’s an ebay like thing in my corner of the world…

Thankfully ROG now has multi-device dongles. So I’m planning to go back… And I’d totally buy a Chakram if it supported the new Omni Receiver. I love the wired version.

With that aside, how is iCue treating you? It was horrible back in the day but I wonder if I should give Corsair a second chance?

I’m also tempted to give a glass mousepad a try…

In any case, I should probably post a few pictures of some 3D prints that I have on my desk…

I was at Ikea the other day and came across the VINTERFINT Red Button Tray and thought “Hey that’s neat! But $20? I could probably model it myself in a few minutes.” ….So I did! I also uploaded it to Makerworld

It came out great and with the Bambu Studio “Strength profile” it weighs about the same as the wood version!

What did it cost in filament?

Regardless, It came out great :+1:t2:

Most 1kg spools of filament are in the $15~20 range. So chances are that the print was a bit cheaper.

If you shop around, you can get some filaments for around $12 per kg. Although I tend to buy brand name ASA which is closer to $30 per kg.

I used Sunlu PLA which cost me $11.99 USD for 1kg on Amazon

So according to Bambu Studio, $5.38

You could probably save even more (if anyone else was interested) without lowered print quality by dropping the number of bottom layers down to a minimal 2-3 and keeping infill high.

Rigidity is primarily affected by the outer layers. So reducing the infill will have less impact on how strong the print is than reducing the number of bottom layers.

I was under the assumption that this would be used as something along the lines of a “keys, wallet, and knife” tray, where it rests on a flat surface under little stress. Strength was not of primary concern in my mind, especially at the bottom.

Yeah, strength is irrelevant since it is just a decorative print. I was just trying to achieve a similar weight to the original wood one. I can upload a print profile that is lighter

What are your intentions with an LPR camera?

play around with it in an attempt to pull the camera. might even pull the filter off and try to convert it to full spectrum. i dont care about the LPR part.

ive been getting back into photography this year and this is the digital version of the experimentation i used to do in the dark room

Is there any interest on doing a project thread?

You know what sucks about 3D printing. The wait.

They promised me I could just push a button and have a thing.

I want my thing. I want it now.

The worst is waiting all day to start the print at night so you can wake up to a great print only to have a plate of spaghetti

I demand you immediately spin 3 time, knock on wood, and spit!

(I’m still printing)
