xSIID Impatience?

Hey there,

It’s been 4 weeks since getting my xSIID blue installed (not self-install, done by a piercer who has done an xMagic on the other side). While the implant reads perfectly fine, I still do not get any visible light from it. Even in a dark room, regardless of whether I am using a flipper, phone or ACR122. The bruising is subsided now, at least the visible portion of it - am I being too impatient or is it maybe too deep? It does seem slightly deeper than my other implant, though it may still be settling. I also read of these flipping “upside-down”, but I would expect at least a faint light in a dark room when pinching the implant “up” if it was flipped…?

If you have an xSIID, how long did it take for light to become visible? Am I just being too impatient?

Green xSIID, not sure how much different the blue is, I don’t believe it’s much.

My LED was visible immediately after install, but:

That is a very real thing, and makes a not-quite-huge-but-bigger-than-big difference to brightness, especially while you’re healing

At 4 weeks you should be right at the tail-end of any residual swelling, but it’s definitely still possible that a combo of the implant facing the wrong way and some swelling is making it very faint IMO

There were a few times in the weeks after the initial install where I couldn’t see the LED very well, if it was a dimmer color, it’s possible I may not have seen it at all

It’s a little odd that you haven’t seen it at all yet, but I’d definitely keep testing it for a few more days before worrying too much about other possibilities

Oh, also,

Congratulations and welcome!

Welcome and congrats.

Have you tried using the zinc power scan feature to see if it lights up?

Thank you both

I will give it a couple more weeks, worst case I have the equivalent of an xNT lol

I don’t currently have an android device, I tried it with this flipper app, which I understand has the same idea: Flipper Lab

You may also be able to use a small magnet or manual persuasion to spin it. But you definitely should be able to see it in a dark room.

I will say the first month mine was pretty dull. But now it’s very bright

great attitude. :+1:

I’m pretty sure you will be fine, the ratio of
Time:Faulty
is extreme.

The number of occurances that just waiting a little longer solves all issues is super common.
Whereas, the number of faulty devices is almost unheard of.

When its not time, it’s normally operator error, physics, lack of knowledge/understanding, or unrealistic expectations (often a combination of 2 or more of those)

From what I recall, 6-8 weeks for a Blinky :blinky_blue: is much more realistic.
There are a number of threads that go something like this:

“hey, I just got an xSIID, it worked straight after install, now it doesn’t, please help”

“dont worry, give it at least 2 weeks, probably longer to see the light, the swelling will make it harder to see the light”

“it’s been 2 weeks, I can read the chip again, but I can’t see the light, please help”

“give it a couple more weeks, its probably inflamation and the led is possibly facing inward”

“it’s been 4 weeks and I cant see my xSIID, even in a dark room, and I’ve tried on all the readers I have, what can I do?”

“Chill mutha fucka, chill, give it a little more time, the blinky will show when its ready man, come back in a week or two if theres been no change…”

“Guess what guys!? My blinky is blinking
:blinky_red: :blinky_white: :blinky_blue:
I guess I just needed to wait…”

“Yay, congrats, welcome to the club .gif, etc.”

“I have another question?, it said the xSIID had 2k memory, mine only shows 1k”

" :emoji_facepalm: "

You’re currently in phase
“Chill mutha fucka, chill”
(but you’re already chilled)

Next phase

:blinky_blue:

Worst case scenario, Dangerous Things will sort you out, they always do.

Yeah basically if blood got trapped in the wound space, it could take several more weeks to clear… depends on how good your body is at clearing out dead blood cells from interstitial tissue.

Quick update nearly 3 weeks after the original post - not much has changed, it is still reading fine but does not light up. I will continue to wait

I have a blue xSIID in the same spot- my light is only visible in a pitch black room and it’s been in since Feb. I shined a flashlight on the palm of my hand and it seemed to heal under a vein, possibly the same issue with yours? Should be worth noting I have a red one in the spot next to it(P1) and it is visible in direct light.
