Big thank you to @Amal / DT for the fast delivery! This is going to be both a fun install and interesting exploration.
You are probably already aware
But here are a couple of resources to get you started
…
Well I was going to add my post, but it is now outdated and Tac0s Global platform is really all you need.
Included anyway incase there are any helpful nuggets in there
Hey Pilgrim, thank you for that! I’ve done a fairly thorough reading of the forum, I actually was thinking of posting a small bridge document/post with a consolidated info dump sometime soon on the research and exploring of usecases for me! I think your post is one of the main ones I found very useful!
That sounds awesome, I’m looking
forward to it.
I’m super envious of your Module version, I would have grabbed one of those if they were avaliable when I got my FlexSecure.
Just sayin’
I’ll upload it soon!
Can always get it as a backup ;D
Ha, yeah! Will definitely be recording it and putting it up in that thread, just need to see whether I can find someone local or do a quick day/weekend trip to Germany for the installation! In the meantime, gives me some additional opportunity to finish up on some of the code I’m writing and test on the new J3R180 cards before committing to implementing on the flexsecure!
Arnuf comes highly reccomend
Arnulf is exactly who I had in mind if I can’t find someone in NL, though i’ll probably have to go for him since from what I’ve read theres some regulatory/legislative restrictions regarding implants in the Netherlands.
ooo what perfect timing! I’ve been rifling through the forums for a couple days looking for more Apex/FlexSecure Module posts.
@not_a_daemon Very excited for you! Have you already decided on an install location?
And to anyone who has experience with the module-sized flex, how noticeable are they after healing, visibly and by touch? There are some people in my life who I don’t want knowing about my implants, so it’s a consideration of mine.
And to anyone who has experience with the module-sized flex, how noticeable are they after healing, visibly and by touch?
Going to guess this depends a bit on the location and your skin/body. My module is in my wrist, and it is not visually noticeable. I have a smaller flex in p4 that is easier to feel, maybe because of thinner skin on the back of hand?
You can feel it, but it is subtle and I would say not very likely someone would casually find it. It feels like something flat under the skin, but you have to specifically poke or rub it just right to feel it. I would say it should hide well from normal touches, but would not hold up under extended groping.
The main tell would be any scar. I have one from the install (module size means scalpel install), but my scars tend to be very contrasted and visible. Also a scar could just as easily be from that fight you had last week with bear, doesn’t have to be from the electronics you installed.
Ok great, this was the location I had in mind, maybe 1.5 - 2 cm above where I would wear a watch.
I have a NExT in P0 - L, and I haven’t had any issues hiding that so far. It sounds like the thicker skin of the wrist may help me out.
How was pain during and healing after installation? Is your module parallel to your arm, or perpendicular? Would you have done anything differently?
Thank you for your time and advice, by the way.
Hey @dylan0! I’m probably going for the right wrist, dorsal surface and outer (ulnar). I was thinking transversal but I’ll need to check with the person doing the placement, though always open to other suggestions from other more experienced people regarding placement.
Thats exactly where I put mine. I’ve been happy with the spot, easy to access either bringing the reader to my arm, or arm to the reader.
Pain during was fine, I got lucky and had access to lidocaine. I did a ug4 in my hand at the time. Wrist healed much faster, despite being the larger install. I think the back of the hand sees too much movement so it took longer to heal and hurt more.
I put the module parallel with the arm, slightly off to the outer side but still on the top of the arm. I would not change anything with the placement. Also i do not wear a watch on that wrist, but if i did i think the location would be a problem, and i would want to move it farther back.
I have a nextv2 there, it is my one physically visible implant. It prints very proudly if i grip or flex my hand. Maybe I just have thin skin.
I don’t have a module, so take this for what its worth.
I do wear a watch and I have a Flex on my forearm parallel to my radius, My Flex was placed exactly where If I place my phone Parallel to my watch band, My NFC antenna (with Hammy Sticker) sits right on top of it.
So my placement is:
~1 phone width up from my watch, parallel to the radius.
With a module I wouldn’t need to be so precise, but this works for me.
I also think a Module would be nicely hidden in that location with only a fondle revealing that it is there.
FYI, I am only using my phone (and occasionally a desktop reader) to read this implant.
IF I was using this on a wall reader, I would likely put it on the Ulna side
