Glow Powder install help

Hi there, I’m thinking about getting a glow powder ring around my arm, but due to UK law I can’t find anyone who does it near me. Ideally I would get a body modification artist to do it but in case I can’t, I was considering trying a DIY route with support from a trusted friend.

I wrote some instructions (with help from chat gpt) and I wanted to double check that the process seemed good.

Objective

Create a 2 mm deep continuous line around the forearm (approximately 10 cm above the wrist), avoiding veins and nerves, with optional embedding of glow powder.

Materials Checklist

- Scalpel No. 11

- glow powder

- Sterile applicator (e.g., micro spatula or cotton swab)

- Iodine cotton swab

- Sterile gloves

- Sterile gauze

- Tegaderm or other clear film bandage

- Disposable sterile field

- Skin-safe surgical marker

- Vein finder or flashlight (for mapping veins)

- Arm rest or brace (to stabilize during cutting)

Procedure Steps

1. Preparation

- Wash hands thoroughly and wear sterile gloves.

- Clean the forearm with antiseptic.

- Use a vein finder or flashlight to identify and mark visible veins.

- Apply the stencil and trace the line with a surgical marker.

2. Skin Tensioning

- Work in four zones: dorsal (top), lateral (thumb side), ventral (underside), medial (pinky side).

- Pull skin taut in each zone:

  • Dorsal: pull toward wrist

  • Lateral/Medial: pull sideways

  • Ventral: tent upward and outward

3. Cutting

- Begin at the dorsal zone (least risky), cutting slowly along the marked line.

- Rotate arm and proceed through each zone, maintaining consistent tension and depth.

- Avoid cutting directly over visible veins or near the elbow crease.

4. Glow Powder Embedding

- If using glow powder, gently apply into the fresh cut using a sterile applicator.

- Avoid overpacking — use minimal quantity to reduce risk of rejection.

5. Aftercare

- Gently clean the area with sterile saline.

- Apply sterile gauze and wrap loosely.

- Monitor for signs of infection: redness, swelling, heat, discharge.

- Avoid submersion in water or friction for 7–10

days.

- Allow natural healing — do not pick scabs or re-cut.

I’m pretty sure that you can go to Germany for a few days and get it done over there. And there are lots of great artists there who will likely speak English.

I can see how the steps that you posted might not work out in several ways. Please don’t ChatGPT DIY this.

Also note that iodine doesn’t disinfect until it dries. And the ventral side is full of arteries.

Seconding the recommendation to not use ChatGPT for this. The aftercare process is also much more involved. The biohacking discord has a lot of info.

Thanks for the tips.
The comment about ChatGPT was merely formatting my already concieved knowledge on the process. I have read most resources on the topic and understand these are not a complete set of instructions but more a guide.

I will 100% consider going to Germany as I did not realise it was legal there.
Thanks.

@Coma has a very trusted and skilled artist in Cologne…

Hi there, i’m relatively new to the practical side of biohacking, having only recently gotten my NeXT, and installation is next week, and i’m hoping to get a headstart on the community discussion side of things, where would one find the discord you’ve mentioned?

Thanks in advance!

Hi, there are a couple of people here on the forum that can vouch for Arnulf’s work, me included. I don’t have any experience with cutting, but his scalpel work is excellent and he is a very cool and professional guy in general. Highly recommend contacting him :ok_hand:
