I am a magician, and have developed a trick utilizing a fingertip magnet that I’m very excited about. I already have a non magnet DT implant and have planned on a magnet for years, so I didn’t think much when ordering and planning an installation. But now I’m having second thoughts.
I have an appointment to get the diametric xg3 installed this Wednesday. The installer was very honest with me about their concerns around a fingertip install, and that if my anatomy is not ideal, they won’t do it. Now, two days before, I just realized… what do I do if my planned spot doesn’t work out?
I don’t want to spoil the trick (though I will be sharing it in the future) but I want to give you an idea of the concept to see if you can help me find secondary install locations.
The main move of the trick involves me holding a cup, placing a metal object inside, and flipping the cup over. I need an install location that can hold this object the entire time. If installed in the thumb webbing, would this be strong enough to hold a metal object in the front of my hand? What about a magnetic object in the front of my hand?
Any advice here would be greatly appreciated! And if it doesn’t work out, I’ll share the trick with anyone interested so they can learn it themselves.
You can help sort of “extend” the field if your cup is also made of a paramagnetic material, basically turning the material into a weak magnet in the presence of an external magnetic field.
By far though your best bet is to make the object in the cup either out of magnetic material, or place a very strong large magnet inside the object. In this case, you would want to be sure your cup was non-magnetic so the object would not attach to it in advertently.
I chose the xg3 due to lifting and installation. No installers near me are able to do installs without the injector.
Do you find it causing issues due to the size?
As far as the cup is concerned, I have thought this one through. The trick uses every day objects, so the cup is a red solo cup, and I have an alternative for the other object in case it needs to be magnetic.
Of the three people i know with finger xG3 installs, two won’t recommend it and the other, well… They are pretty heavily into the body mod scene. They have done things–and continue to–that i would never consider doing.
If a professional is steering you towards this because they aren’t comfortable with a proper device and installation method, i would not use their services.
They are a piercing shop that said they will do any installs that use the injector. They did not steer me towards this install specifically, it’s just what I found easiest… but now realizing I should have done a bit more thinking first.
I’m located in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Would be willing to drive a couple hours for a scalpel install and order another magnet if needed.
I love it. I do not by any means recommend it. It simply is not a good location for the xg3 and now that other options are available that have stronger lifting potential and are smaller in going to echo the statements here.
Take my opinion for what it is worth. Do the scalpel install with a trusted installer even if it is a couple hours away. In the end you’ll be happier it was done right and you will be better off.
Next advice. Once it’s in you really need to avoid playing with it for an extended time. I waited 6 months. But you could probably cut it in half. It takes a while for the body to really let it settle in. Let your body do it’s job.
I can try it at home with a Lodestone68 in -P0 (thumb webing on palm side) but my guess is that the other object is gonna have to be a magnet for this to work reliably.
