Pretty sure the xSLX has a whopping 320 bytes for NDEF.
Hm, might buy an xNT and an xSLX so I can range test in open air. I have a feeling there may not be much difference, but if there is it could still be useful.
Yeah, difference in range is not appreciable with phones or readers i had. Maybe you could get more out of a dedicated 15693 setup.
This is my 9x20. It’s basically the same as a HF mini, just a little bigger. I’m working on a project that needs some 7/8" weld on bushings, so I smooth bored two 7/8" nuts. Also excels at polishing stuff. I buffed the pulleys from my drill press with scotch-brite when I restored it.
As a professional machinist this thing is hideous, as a maker/tinkerer this thing is indispensable.
Highly recommended.
It looks great, Enco is doing some good quality stuff.
And that gearbox looks handy, my lathe was gear change, so i pulled them out and converted it to an electronic lead screw
All I can tell you, that of all my xSeries, My Original Spark ISO15693, it has the best range.
For comparison
(With a Hammy Sticker on my phone)
xNT ~4mm
Spark ~8mm
This made me wonder, you could probably make a key that does nothing UNLESS a magnet is presented…
“hidden macro key” with and xG3 anyone!?
You know that thing where you mention something obscure and suddenly it starts popping up via google / youtube / facebook?
This channel popped up on youtube about minilathes. The kicker is, the guy is 3D printing his own equipment, and using concrete to fill the shells in.
His lathe cuts metal, but he runs his tooling by hand similar to a woodworking lathe. What really caught my attention was his 3D printed CNC mill.
Worth a look.
Wait, is this the guy that made the open lathe project on Printables? I really want to make some of his shit. Lots of cool stuff.
I’m debating a k40 laser…
I won’t be able to put it in my regular area… I’d be sequestered to the basement due to proximity to vent pipes… kinda dumb that not being able to place it near my computer and 3D printers is a hurdle
Don’t forget the space for the water-cooled system.
I live in a one bedroom house. Kinda old, not well laid out. Basically no room for cool stuff. I’ve thought a few times about finding a 3 or 4 bedroom place and using the extra rooms for an electronics room, a theater room (dark room with projector), and a place to setup semi clean machinery. (3d printer = yes, Welder = no)
A laser cutter / engraver is high on the list.
Fixed.
I came across this and immediately thought about the “Amal capitalism” jokes. I’m certainly bullish about getting augmented.
Oh I remember seeing this one in person whilst being dragged around a crypto party… in Miami I think?
It actually looks badass irl.
Edit: they also had this piece of the Berlin wall
Good reminder that freedom is a delicate thing that must be cared for.
That’s gorgeous!
The bull is kinda cool too.
My view on iCopyX is, it was a great product with lots of promise but they made some very poor proprietary decisions, to then realise that other people arent willing to buy into that shit, especially when there is an alternative available (PM3) .
When iCopyX finally removed the proprietary side on some versions, the reputational damage was done and it never got the following it should have.
Greed got in the way of progress.
I think if they kept it open source, it would have been a very popular product, not to the level of Flipper Zero, but it may have taken over ProxMarks spot.
Thats my opinion on it , and the reason I never bought one.
