Apex not working with new Tesla?

Good news… this morning I was fidgeting with the @hamspiced field generator and I somehow got the LED to trigger for a few moments and I saw it nice and blue, very clearly… trying to figure out how I did it and reproduce consistently now… but I did see it.

Where do I get a more powerful field generator for my use case? I really like hamspiced’s but it seems like my use case needs MORE POWA.

So the field generator is limited to the CR2032 voltage. This is too ensure a safe operating range for implant users as I’ve personally tested this generator against constant usage for 90hrs without concern.

However I offer a DIY version. You can apply your own voltage and it will kick out a signal. I didn’t recommend over 12v as you risk frying components at 19v.

But you can add on an antenna as well as a usb-C tail. However you will have to solder it together yourself.

Another week in the books now. Haven’t been able to trigger it since that one time briefly (unless I hallucinated that). Can scan the xSIID fine with the FZ…

@Hamspiced if I were to buy the Field Generator Maker Version with the antenna and USB, what would I need additionally - a 12V USB battery?

Just a usb-C cable. By default it will push 5v which is almost double the field generator.

It doesn’t come soldered so if you want it assembled just put it in the notes.

Only if you have the two 5k pull down resistors on the CC pins. However, some cheap 5V chargers will ignore this and output 5V at all times.

Thanks, I ordered one.

While everyone is here: what is the easiest/cheapest way to enroll my Apex Flex as a Tesla key? Is it just any Android device that supports NFC?

Cheapest: Well its free, so… :+1: Just add the tesla applet from Fidesmo (do you know how to do this?)

Easiest: I’ve only done it once on my mates car.
but
It was pretty simple,

  • He had his card, so we could get into his Tesla
  • In the main menu, he tapped ā€œkeysā€ then ā€œadd keyā€
  • I then place my Apex on the wireles charging pad (behind cup holder)
  • Done
  • You can custom name it…Apparently i am ā€œCUNTā€

if you tap on the wireless reader again, it reminds me that I am ā€œCUNTā€

I tested it on the pillar reader and took me about 2-3 seconds to find the spot.

This was before the Repeater stickers existed, im not sure if he would have let me attach one anyway.
Or how weather proof they are (has anybody tested this?)

Received, It will go out in tomorrow’s post. Throwing in a few extras for you since you’ve been struggling.

Thank you @Hamspiced that is very kind of you!

@Pilgrimsmaster ok thanks, good to know. The reason I ask is because I don’t own any Android devices and the iOS app doesn’t have the Tesla applet, or its not complete yet or something… so I’m looking for the easiest way to do it in my scenario.

Hopefully you can manually deploy the app.

  • VivoKey Tesla Keycard
  • e819c674

If iOS is the same as Android

Select your Apex, then this icon

Let us know how you go

That worked perfectly to install the applet on iOS, thank you. Now I’m just having a hard time angling my hand into the scanner in front of the cup holder bc of Cybertruck… once the applet is installed to the Apex I’m good to go right? I can just add new keycard and attempt to scan? I may need to try replacing a repeater sticker in the keycard place, my hand is just not small enough to get where it needs to be I think.

If I have a repeater sticker can I just place it in the area without peeling the back and actually sticking it? @Hamspiced for visibility on that question

I wonder if the cup holder is removable somehow. That would give me the space to do it.

Yep you can place it temporarily and the range will be the same if you removed the back and used it.

Also note for this particular case my NFC Extenders are a great solution. Basically allowing you to move the scannable area of where the reader is to another location.

agreed

Also, I’m not sure, but can you enroll at the Door pillar?
If the cyber truck has one.

I’m not sure if they would bother differentiating between the 2 readers

Somehow I doubt it… the extender is definitely the way to go… you can use it temporarily to enroll but you might consider permanently placing it for ease of use… but honestly it won’t matter once enrolled since you just need to use the door pillar to get in and go

Oh PS please post videos! I’ve never seen an Apex working with a Cybertruck!

a little update, thanks for all the tips here everybody! I was able to discover the location of my LED with one of @Hamspiced maker field generators. Thank you Hamspiced! Now I can pretty easily trigger it with my Flipper Zero and even with my iPhone, but it’s a bit harder with the phone. It’s pretty hard to see in the light, way easier to see in the dark, still fun nonetheless.

@Pilgrimsmaster it seems the center console is the only way to go. @Hamspiced and anyone here, what extender would you recommend for my situation?

also anyone here, my apartment keycard is NFC (MIFARE Classic 4k ISO 14443-3 (NFC-A)) is there anyway to write that to my Apex Flex or xSIID and if so is there a simple guide I can use to follow for Flipper Zero? similarly, can I do it with a Clipper Card (MIFARE DESFire (MF3ICD40)) on either of my implants?

Have a read through this

hopefully it all makes sense and you can deduce an answer.

I would suggest you take that info, and some measurements from your Tesla to work out what will suit your planned install.

I’m not avoiding answering your question, but I think you are in a better place to answer that yourself.

All extenders worked awesomely for what they were designed for.

If you NEED an answer, I’ll through one at you, BUT you got this buddy!
