In general it’s not a good idea to tattoo directly overtop of an implant. The depth the tattoo needles reach under the skin is not precisely controllable and the risk of damaging the implant is pretty high. Here’s an interesting video from The Slow Mo Guys to illustrate just how deep tattoo needles can reach.
There are a number of posts and threads on this topic throughout the forum. Here are a few;
Short question: Is it possible to get a tattoo over my FlexNT or/and xNT implant? I ask, because I don’t know how deep the needle goes and i will not risk to damage the chip.
Thx Thomas
So I understand that my xSIID is at about 5mm below the surface of the skin and tattoo needles go about that depth so getting a tattoo over the implant is dangerous. However, I’ve been looking into semipermanent tattoo inks and I was wondering if any one else has used them to mark their implants. Also, if anyone has any ideas on how to permanently tattoo without the needles that’d be dope.
Edit: anybody tried stick and poke tattoos?
Hey i wanted to put a hand tattoo and its gonne go over my chip implant can it be done or will it be dangerous or is it just a no go ?? If anyone has done this can u show me a picture

Is that something I need to worry about when getting tattooed? I know that in theory the ink is placed between the layers of skin, and my implant is underneath my skin…but I just don’t wanna find out the hard way that the needle can rea…
Hi,
I’m considering getting the Ultron kit (NExT & VivoKey Spark). These will be my first implants. Just had a couple of questions:
How close can I implant the two chips? At what distance from each other will they start interfering? I was planning on putting the NExT on the centre of my right wrist about two or three centimetres down from the joint (similar location to the image shown below, except right arm), and the VivoKey at the same location but on the other side (outside) of the arm. Ar…
