Apex Flex Problem in reading\writing

hello everyone,

I installed an apex Flex on my arm (see photo) back in November 2022.

To date I have practically never been able to use it :frowning:

I have tried different phone models for chip detection. from IOS to Android, the only model that seems to read the apex flex is the Samsung s22 ultra.
Do you say they installed it wrong or too deep or are there other problems?
With a proxmark I can read it, but at least back in the day it wasn’t available for pc, maybe something has changed.
All kinds of advice is welcome!

Have you tried using the repeater stickers with your phone? My apex is in the same place, and with a sticker, it reads through my winter jacket sleeve and a thick otterbox case on a pixel 7 pro.

going across the forearm (latereral or medial) is less common, and in my opinion would put more stresses on the solder connection.

I can see how it would make for an easy read (in theory in your particular situation)

I have a number of forearm implants but all run parallel (distal/proximal) and they all read fine.

All of this is moot as yours is in and most importantly still working, albiet with some limitations.
The reason I bring it up is you may want to consider a parallel installation next time.
Also
With regards to my “easy read” comment, I assume you are aware of and have been reading with your phone antenna parallel rather than perpendicular to the APEX?

I 100% agree with this statement

But would reccomend you go with a Hammy sticker ( I tested the RSP and Hammy repeaters and my resukts were strongly in favour of Hammys)

You dont need a sticker necessarily, there are PCB versions and LARGE PCBS that if they fit your antenna would be a great option.
I would have used a LARGE PCB if I could, but it didn’t suit my NFC antenna location, but the little sticker was a game changer for me, I went from slow and methodical very good success to slap and dash, close enough is good enough and I get a read 95% of the time on the first try, and the lost 5% is a me issue NOT a repeater issue.

To find the optimal location to place the repeater, grab one of these

What is your current phone? im assuming from your comment that the Samsung s22 ultra is no longer this one?

Have you identified the NFC Antenna position?
These may help

My testing of the Repeaters if you are interested

I hope this helps, as you have a great implant and we all want you to be able to use it, so keep us up to date with your progress, and ask away with any more questions

good luck

Simply WOW, I have been out of this forum for too long.
Thanks guys really <3

As a phone I have an iPhone 14 pro, I have never been able to read apex with this phone. As I said the only one that could read it, but we’re talking about 5% of the time was the S22 which I no longer have though.
I just bought the repeater sticker you recommended, hopefully I can finally solve it!
I honestly had no idea it existed.
I’ll update you as soon as it arrives (I’m in Asia at the moment, so I think it might take a while).

Ok, so that is part of the issue, iPhones in my opinion have the best location for the NFC antenna for practical use, but their performace is dismal.

As I don’t have an iPhone, Others will be better placed to advise on placement, there is an iPhone 13 in the thread I linked for you, heres the picture

As you can see, the antenna ( if you were not aware ) is along the top edge; your best bet with or without the sticker SHOULD be parallel to the antenna, so with your placement across the forearm, this may or may not be the most ergonomic, but do your best to get as parallel as possible with as much antenna “in contact” with the APEX as you can, and be patient and deliberate as the read is a little slower than other implants.

Colour me envious, enjoy
