Easy Guard : Push to start installation ( with easy removal option)

Not only that but some of these systems connect through to ground instead of passing current so also check if any switch pins connect to ground at any point (activated or not)

Good point.

Hi, I installed this in my TOYOTA, there is no chip in my key, and I chose to cut my key and leave it in the barrel. The issue I have is that the door/key alarm beeps when the doors are open. Did I do something wrong? And I canā€™t manually lock my doors with the doors open. I have to close my doors then I can either use the alarm remote or use the manual door lock. Or do I have to live with it?

There is a key inserted sensor (switch) in the barrel that activates the ā€œhey you left your key in the ignitionā€ beeping when the doors are open. You could find these wires and manipulate them to make it ā€œappearā€ that your key is not actually in the ignition. I donā€™t know if that means shorting them or cutting them so they are permanently open, you will need to test or refer to your maintenance manual.

I also donā€™t know how this will affect other aspects of operation of your vehicle and/or built in anti-theft system. Testing is necessary.

Thank you, I will look into this option.

Iā€™m currently working on installing one of these and this is my results with the multimeter, Iā€™m unsure of which wire would be which. Iā€™ve tested these results twice because they looked pretty odd to me. Any help would be appreciated!

The one 1 mark on acc 2 is wrong I donā€™t have an acc2

Apologies,
I thought I had replied, I just saw this in my ā€œdraftsā€ (I currently have another 16 drafts, plus this on  that I need to finish or delete)

since Iā€™m not doing the testing myself itā€™s Tricky to be certain over the interwebs.

MY BEST GUESS IS

Power on ā€œStartā€ for ALL wires has thrown me (except Green, but thatā€™s good)

No worries, whatā€™s funny is I actually figured this out the next day and just forgot to update. Iā€™ll post a picture of how I wired it just in the off chance someone else needs it for an 03 Toyota Highlander. I found a wiring diagram online for my vehicle and used that.

But itā€™s all set up now and working, key cylinder is completely removed.

Pretty cool.

You must be chuffed with yourself!?

A pity those LF antennas are dogshit, BUT, at least they work.

Actual start, or like an immobolizer?

My first thought would be maybe you have the wrong wire connected to Run/On.

Does you car have a seperate Start and Run wire (maybe On)

Start should just be for the starter motor, When it ā€œrelaxesā€ back it should go to run/on
If it goes back to accessories, it will just provide power, but the car wont runā€¦does that make sense?

Does the Car power to ACC with a single quick push and foot off the brake?

Can you post a picture of the switch and the wiring?

Exactly my thought. @Poppatyty did you put a spare key into one of those transponder cases that gets connected to the ignition system? A 2001 vehicle definitely has one of these immobilizer systems built into the ignition, which requires a successful read of the registered transponder in the key for the engine to remain running.

Hiya! I put one of these in my 08 Silverado 1500 a few weeks back. I hit a few snags, but nothing that couldnā€™t be ironed out with a bit of fiddling. A few pictures of the wiring would be helpful, and maybe a list of wire colors from the unit to your ignition. I will also say that I have had issues with the power flickering if it gets too hot, but that doesnā€™t sound like whats happening here.
Edit:
A video of you trying to start it would be great too

Wow! Good job and everything well explained. I wonder if there is something similar that can be installed on a motorcycle? :motorcycle:

I will turn my reply into a Motobike mod thread, I have more to add, but in the meantime some light reading for you

HA
DAMN IT, @tac0s beat me to itā€¦

oh well, blah blah, same below, and probably many double ups

You could probably make the Easy guard work, but there are alternatives

Also some car projects will help because they are all the same principle.

This one covers easy guard and a few others

If your bike has a proximity immobiliser installed, this workaround is a fantastic one

That should be more than enough to get you started

Your reply, as usual, is far more informative. :fire:

Sorry for the late response but up still have not gotten it working intact the module it self doesnā€™t even work now no beeps or anything itā€™s very frusterating it went from almost working to not working at all so hereā€™s some pics illl get better ones when itā€™s not so cold and dark outside also I Will explain how I wired it all so first like in the instructions and before I did all this yes I did test all the wires for locating the correct wires so first I connected the yellow wire from the 6pin harness to the yellow starter wire on the 01 Silverado ignition harness there is 2 yellow wires the starter wire is the sightly heavier gauge wire and I soldered and taped all my connections then I Connected the brown wire from the 6 pin harness too the white ignition #2 then the red from the 6 pin too the thick red with white stripe 12v wire. Then the white wire frown the 6pin too the pink ignition 1 wire and so here is where i got confused is that it says if I had two accessory wires which I do one is brown the other is orange that you should connect both of them too the blue wire and the black is grounded at the chassis so thatā€™s where Iā€™m atā€¦ let me know if I missed anything
